SOME QUESTIONS WE ARE OFTEN ASKED:

Will my pet pine in quarantine?

NO. Most dogs and cats settle down very quickly in their new surroundings. They enjoy the regular routine, receive plenty of love and attention, are comfortable, and have lots of room to move freely so they are quite content.

Will my pet be well fed?

Feeding is of paramount importance, which is why we only give the dogs and cats the highest quality food, which has proved to be excellent for digestion, coat condition and teeth. If there is a medical requirement for a different diet we are pleased to arrange for this to be given to your pet.

When may I visit my pet?

You may visit as soon as you like, although we do suggest that you allow a short "settling-in" period for us to get to know your pet. We suggest about a week before visiting. Thereafter you are most welcome to see your pet on any of our visiting days (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 2-4pm). You may, of course, visit your pet in the kennel and bring along treats or toys. If, for any reason, you are unable to visit (some people do find it impossible for a number of reasons), don't worry: ALL the pets still recognise their owners at the end of their quarantine!

Should I send beds or bedding?

These are provided by the kennels. However, if your pet has a "special" piece of bedding which will help to make him feel more at home (or an article of your clothing), by all means send it in the travelling box. It is a good idea to obtain the box a week or so prior to your pet's departure (perhaps putting his food or a treat inside) to allow him to get used to it. You may also put any favourite toy(s) in the box so that they will arrive with your pet, or as some owners do, send them in advance.

What about grooming?

There is an experienced, well-qualified resident groomer who will be pleased to discuss your pet's requirements with you. Normal routine grooming and bathing is carried out by our staff, when required. There is no charge for this, but a reasonable fee is payable for clipping, etc.

Is there veterinary supervision?

Our veterinary supervisor visits daily (except Sunday) and is available to deal with any problems which might arise. He will also attend at any time in case of an emergency. We can arrange for insurance against vet's fees, if you wish.

What vaccinations are given?

ALL animals entering the UK are required to be vaccinated against rabies as soon as they arrive. Our vet also vaccinates against the common dog and cat diseases. Many owners are concerned about re-vaccination for rabies as some countries insist that pets are vaccinated prior to their export. However, re-vaccination appears to do no harm whatsoever.

How are the animals collected from the port or airport?

As we are Ministry-approved carrying-agents, we can arrange the collection. Simply let us know the details of the arrival at the port or airport (giving us as much prior notice as possible), and we shall do the rest. As we are conveniently located within easy reach of Gatwick and Heathrow the journeys to the kennels are not too long.

How will my pet react after quarantine?

Many owners are kind enough to write to us after their pets go home to tell us that they have settled in as if nothing had happened. They still retain their old habits-both good and bad! We also, happily, see many of the pets again when they visit our boarding kennels while their owners are away, so the experience can't be that bad!
